Failed Haiku # 68, August 2021
Welcome to the haiku home of Rick Jackofsky, beggar poet and paterfamilias of The Homegrown String Band™. I started seriously writing and submitting haiku to various online and print journals in 2018, but I've been writing songs and poetry pretty much my whole life. For nearly half a century, I've made my living through music and photography. Somewhere along the way, I discovered that haiku, for me, is something of a missing link between photography and songwriting. Like a good photo, a haiku captures an image of a moment in time, and like a good poem or song, a successful haiku uses words to communicate on a level that bypasses the rational part of our brains that we normally use to interpret language.
My haiku, senryu, tanka, and haibun have been published in:
Golden Triangle Haiku Contest
